How to Get More Google Reviews (Without Breaking the Rules)
Published 30 October 2026 · By DMAI PVT LTD
Google reviews help new customers trust your business, and they are one of the factors that influence how you appear in Google Maps. The good news is that getting more reviews does not need tricks. It needs a simple, steady habit. Here is how to do it the right way.
1. Get your direct review link
Open your Google Business Profile and find the option to ask for reviews. It gives you a short link that opens the review box directly, so customers do not have to search for you. Save this link where you can paste it quickly.
2. Ask at the right moment
The best time to ask is right after a happy experience: when a job is finished, a meal is enjoyed or a product is delivered. A polite, personal request works better than a generic one.
3. Make it easy
- Send the link on WhatsApp or SMS right after the service.
- Add a QR code for your review link at your counter, table or invoice.
- Put the link in your email signature and on your website footer.
4. Use a simple message
You can send something like: “Thank you for choosing us! If you were happy with our service, we would be grateful if you could share a quick review here: [your link].” Keep it short, friendly and optional.
5. Reply to every review
Thank people who leave good reviews, and reply calmly and politely to critical ones. Replies show future customers that you care and listen. Respond within a day or two when you can.
Mistakes to avoid
- Buying or faking reviews. This breaks Google’s policies and can lead to reviews being removed.
- Offering gifts or discounts in exchange for reviews. Google does not allow incentives for reviews.
- Asking only happy customers and hiding the link from others. Google discourages this practice, which is often called review gating.
- Asking too often. One polite request per customer is enough.
Be patient and consistent
A steady flow of genuine reviews works better than a sudden burst. Make asking part of your routine, and your rating and review count will grow over time. Reviews are also an important part of local SEO, together with a complete Google Business Profile and accurate details.
